Anne Kutka McCosh studied and worked at the Arts Student League in New York. After marrying fellow painter David McCosh in 1934 and moving to Eugene, she brought an East Coast urban perspective with her. Soon she was painting her new environment, stressing the characteristic features of the people and events in this college town.
In 1991 the University of Oregon sponsored a lifetime retrospective of her work. She created more than 650 oils, drawings, watercolors, and prints in her lifetime. Also, she is well remembered as a wonderful art instructor, a role she filled for 20 years, both at Maude Kerns Art Center, and in her home studio on Fairmount Boulevard, in Eugene.
Anne's work comes to us from the University of Oregon Foundation, and was exhibited as part of "36 Remarkable Women" curated by Roger Saydack, in March of 2008.
